Scattered throughout the 8 stages are hidden sub tanks that will need special tricks and know-how to find them. They will act as a separate health bar for Mega Man X and can be used to stockpile energy before a boss or challenging fight. In this guide I will share where to find each item, as well as the tricks you will need to pull off to obtain them. Mega Man X2: All Body Armor Upgrades, Heart & Sub Tanks GuideThere three types of upgrades you can gain from different stages in Mega Man X2, these include body armor upgrades, heart tanks and sub tanks.
Each will help tweak Mega Man stats with either permanently increasing health, increase abilities or help to refill health bars at opportune moments.Body UpgradesScattered throughout the 8 stages are hidden body upgrade capsules that will need you to perform special tricks to find them. They will permanently increase the abilities of Mega Man X. The following locations and how to acquire them are below. Wheel Gator’s Stage (Dinosaur Tank Stage).
Mega Buster Upgrade. Strike Chain required. Start the Dinosaur Tank Stage and proceed down the 2 ladders to arrive at several descending stairs. Jump onto the right wall and dash-jump off of it using the strike chain to pull yourself to the wall. Climb it to find the capsule.Overdrive Ostrich’s Stage (Desert Base Stage).
Leg Armor Upgrade. Spin Wheel required. At the end of the stage before going to the boss there will be some blocks on the top right corner that must be destroyed with Spin Wheel. Inside is the capsule.Morph Moth’s Stage (Robot Junkyard Stage). Body Armor Upgrade.
Spin Wheel required. Near the beginning of the level, after the second orange column use Spin Wheel twice on the ground. Take the new gap down to find the capsule on the right side.Crystal Snail’s Stage (Energen Cave Stage). Helmet Upgrade. No special weapon or upgrade required.
Found towards the center of the level, after players have defeated the mini boss. Slide down the slippery crystal slope which will be followed by a big pit. Slide down the left wall to find a path that houses the capsule at the end of it.Mega Man X2: All Heart Tanks GuideScattered throughout the 8 stages are hidden heart tanks that will require special tricks to find them.
They will permanently increase the energy/health bar of Mega Man X. The following locations and how to acquire them are below. Overdrive Ostrich‘s Stage (Desert Base Stage).
Use the motorcycle to pass the desert section and once players reach inside the base, use the dash whilst going up the incline. This will give you enough speed to reach the spike covered platform to grab the Heart Tank.Wire Sponge’s Stage (Weather Control Stage). Immediately starting the level, climb the left wall to obtain the Heart Tank.Wheel Gator’s Stage (Dinosaur Tank Stage). About half way in the stage after players leave behind their Rabbit Mech Armor, there will be a Heart Tank on the left on top of a spike wall.
Dash jump from the nearby raised platform and use the charged version of Speed Burner to reach it.Bubble Crab’s Stage (Deep-Sea Base Stage). After the fish-like submarine opens the red trap door. Climb the wall on the right side, then dash-jump off the wall to the left, to reach a moving orange platform. Scale the orange platform and wall to obtain the Heart Tank.Flame Stag’ Stage (Volcanic Zone).
As players reach the part of the stage where the rising lava travels upwards. Climb the walls faster and midway on the left will be the Heart Tank. Destroy the wall with buster shots or Spin Wheel.Morph Moth’s Stage (Robot Junkyard Stage). At the beginning of the level, freeze the disk-throwing enemy using Crystal hunter.
Use him as a platform and dash-jump towards the wall and climb it to find the last Heart Tank.Magna Centipede’s Stage (Central Computer Stage). Get past the first section of the stage stealthy.
Use dash jump off the raised platform and use the charged version of Speed Burner.Crystal Snail’s Stage (Energen Cave Stage). At the beginning of the stage, get in the Rabbit Mech Armor and head back up the ramp. Fall down to the hidden path. Dash jump then tap the jump button to extend the hover mechanic of the armor then exit from it at the end of the path to reach the Heart Tank. Mega Man X2: All Sub Tanks GuideSub Tanks are permanent items that players can obtain for Mega Man X.
They can be found in 4 different Maverick stages. Sub Tanks can be used at any time to refill player’s health bar. Wire Sponge’s Stage (Weather Control Stage). No special weapon or upgrade required.
When players reach the first raining section jump onto the top of the first moving platform in the air. Then dash jump to the left, onto the tree wall and head upwards. Dash jump towards the right wall to get on the platform.
Once move dash-jump to the next platform to obtain this Sub Tank.Bubble Crab’s Stage (Deep-Sea Base Stage). Bubble Splash and Buster Upgrade required. Near the center of the stage there will be a long flat section. Charge up Bubble Splash so you can jump super high. Jump up to find the Sub Tank on the left in a nook.
When players reach the highest point, hit jump again to jump on the surface to reach it.Flame Stag’ Stage (Volcanic Zone). No special weapon or upgrade required. At the start of the stage find the first flying beetle and jump on it’s back. It will take you to the top where a Sub Tank is tucked in the left corner.Magna Centipede’s Stage (Central Computer Stage). Buster Upgrade required. Just before players reach the mini-boss use the charge shot of Speed Burner after a dash-jump to reach the wall and climb it to find the final Sub Tank.Check out the video below to see this guide in action.
